These pictures below are a few of my most recent pieces I have created so far in Stage 2 of CET in my Visual Arts module. They have a focus around ‘Concept of Self’ and are inspired by this quote;
“I have never made paintings as a work of art, it’s all research”
-Pablo Picasso
This quote got me thinking about the notion of research and how it could be applied to concept of self and how art is a great form of self exploration and research. I feel art is something very personal to the creator. Their pieces are a physical embodiment of so much of them and their thought processes. A piece can say so much about how the artist is feeling and the emotions they experienced while creating. Their pieces shows the audience what was happening in their lives at the time at which they were creating and that is something so personal and special to be able to share with others without having to utter a single word. The power of art is amazing in the sense it can say so much without actually uttering a single word. I wanted to do this with my pieces. As you can see, as you go through my pieces you will realise they become more extravagant in size, media and expression. All of my pieces below vary in size spanning from A3, all the way to A5 and bigger. This shows you the journey of my self exploration in the fact that as I became more fixated on myself my pieces become more complex. As I grew so did my pieces and I began to share more of myself in a physical representation the more there was for my art and therefore my audience. Below theses pieces you will find a gallery of some of my earlier pieces that I have created as well.
